It was wonderful getting a chance to meet with people from Fairfield and the surrounding communities to talk about college concerns. Some of the questions raised were:
- When is a good time to start the college planning process? (Freshman and Sophomore years are ideal in order to have to time to optimize the high school curriculum and summer and extra-curricular activities.)
- What’s the best way to deal with communication between parent and teen without nagging? (Often it’s helpful to have a third party to allow the student to be open to adult advice and assist the student to own the process.)
- How can we get the best “bang for our buck” regarding college costs? (Don’t be fooled by “sticker shock”. Interestingly, often the largest scholarships come from well-endowed private colleges.)
We will also have a booth on the Sherman Green at the Fairfield Sidewalk Sale & Street Fair on Saturday, July 22. Stop by to say “hello” and receive a small gift. Anyone who signs our mailing list will get $50.00 off an initial College Docs consultation.
