Our services
College Admissions Assistance
From developing your college list to completing the college application, College Docs can help with all aspects of the college admission process. We offer a unique perspective and support structure due to our experience as psychologists. We are not only there to help you navigate the admissions process, but we also listen to your concerns with a personal touch. We work both in person as well as across several online platforms. Getting into college is one of the most important steps in a young person's life, and we are as invested in that process as you are. We know it is more than just a numbers game, and we are here to help your student find, apply and gain acceptance to colleges of his or her choice.
At College Docs we offer comprehensive packages. This allows us to dedicate our time and expertise to each of our students in a holistic way. We do not limit the number of school applications, essays or the time we spend with each student. Our goal is to assist each student to have the best college applications with the best choice of acceptances.
We do not work piecemeal, such as just a college list or the essay alone. Knowing what schools will be best-fit for each student depends on many factors, not just GPA and test scores. It involves the student’s values, interests, and learning styles. It is understanding how one college may differ from another in areas such as their core curriculum, their flexibility with choosing majors and the chance for additional opportunities such as study abroad or internships.
The essay should be a unique reflection of the student’s personality, not just one with correct grammar. The essay is the brief snapshot of each student for the admissions’ counselors, and the tone of the essay is very important. To achieve that we have to really know the student well and have it integrated with the other aspects of the application.
College Docs takes pride in our history of student success, with every student having had multiple acceptance offers, most with scholarship offers as well.
The College Search:
We begin our college admissions consulting as early as sophomore or junior year. Starting with an in-depth exploratory meeting with the student and his or her family, we discuss academic history, expectations for the college experience, personal aspirations, and learning styles. We strategize with our clients to find colleges that provide a good fit for each student's unique set of variables. From there, we strive toward compiling a list of colleges with each student for them to visit, and later on apply to, that is both challenging yet realistic. With each student, we develop a Personalized College Action Plan tailored to his or her needs and interests.
The College Application:
From beginning to end, the college application process can be daunting. Along with the college essay and résumé, there are many details that have to be accurate, and timeliness is an important factor. College Docs accompanies each student through these challenges by:
High School Course Schedule and Extracurriculars:
We advise students about high school courses or other activities that might enhance their college application. Advanced Placement courses, early college experience credits, and extracurricular clubs and activities can help build each student’s résumé, and better position them for college.
SAT Prep/Tutoring
In addition to admissions consulting services, College Docs is able to refer students for SAT prep and individual tutoring if needed. We are happy to have the excellent services of Alex and Jason Racheotes, who have agreed to offer a reduced rate to clients already working with College Docs.
